The project “AMReady: Development and manufacturing of vaccines for alleviation and preparedness for anti-microbial resistance global health crisis”, to be executed in 2021-2024 with a total budget of 1.4 million euro has been awarded funding by the competitive program Lineas Estratégicas de Colaboración Público-Privada 2021 of the State Research Agency of the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, in the Recovery and Resilience Plan co-financed with Next Generation EU Funds.

AMReady is a very complete consortium of institutions led by Vaxdyn and formed by the Barcelona-based international pharmaceutical manufacturer Laboratorios Reig Jofre and top groups in Immunology and infectious diseases of the National Microbiology Center (CNM) of the Spanish Institutes of Health “Carlos III” (ISCIII) in Madrid (Spain), the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences of the University of Cordoba (Spain) and the Institute of Parasitology and Biomedicine “López Neyra” of the CSIC in Granada (Spain).

In AMReady, the technological platform of Vaxdyn will be tested for delivering vaccine candidates able to raise immunity in human subjects and animals with a double final objective. First, to raise specific immunity against one of the most important antibiotic-resistant bacteria in humans populations at hjgh-risk of development of antibiotic-resistant infections. And second, deliver to the porcine industry a vaccine to prevent infections of one of the most important causative agents of respiratory diseases in piglets, for reduction of the use of antibiotics in porcine farms. The vaccine candidates will be developed until the milestone of preparedness for clinical trials for humans and for field trials for animals.
